How to buy Convex Finance (CVX) safely: on centralized exchanges or on-chain via Curve and DEX aggregators, plus wallet setup and safety checks.
Two ways to buy CVX
You can buy CVX on a centralized exchange (CEX) that lists it, or on-chain through decentralized exchanges such as Curve's CVX/ETH pool or a DEX aggregator. Check which exchanges currently list CVX in your country — listings change over time.
Option 1: centralized exchange
- Create and verify an account on an exchange that lists CVX.
- Deposit funds (card, bank transfer or crypto).
- Buy CVX on the CVX/USDT or similar market.
- Withdraw CVX to your own wallet if you want to lock or stake it.
Option 2: on-chain on Ethereum
- Install a wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby and fund it with ETH for gas.
- Open Curve or a reputable DEX aggregator.
- Swap ETH (or a stablecoin) for CVX — the CVX token contract is listed in the Convex docs.
- Check price impact and slippage before confirming.
After buying: what to do with CVX
You can hold CVX, lock it as vlCVX for votes and fees, stake it for a share of platform revenue, or provide liquidity. Each option is explained in our vlCVX guide and tokenomics page.
Safety checklist
- Always verify the token contract address from official sources.
- Beware of fake tokens with the same name.
- Never share your seed phrase.
- Start with a small test purchase.
